a bit about me

Enmanuel Hernandez Suarez is a dedicated and accomplished first-year medical student at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, focusing on Biochemistry and Natural and Applied Sciences, and a minor in Biology. His academic excellence is reflected in his induction into the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and receiving the Honor and Excellence in Civic Engagement Medallion of Distinction.

 

Enmanuel has been deeply involved in research at FIU, working under the mentorship of Dr. Stephen Winkle in the Biochemistry Department. His research focused on studying the binding properties of Cobalt to both relaxed and supercoiled DNA in the presence of RNA polymerase and various restriction enzymes. Alongside his research, Enmanuel also served as a Learning Assistant for Biochemistry, where he played a key role in fostering students' academic development.

 

Dedicated to community service, Enmanuel has held various volunteer positions, including Secretary for Heart for the Homeless, Panther2Panther Mentor at FIU, and volunteer role with Feeding South Florida. These experiences have equipped him with strong leadership, organizational, and cross-cultural collaboration skills.

 

In the professional realm, Enmanuel has gained valuable clinical experience as a Clinical Business Operation Representative at the University of Miami, a Laboratory Assistant at Mercy Hospital, and a Phlebotomy Clerk at Larkin Community Hospital. These roles have provided him with a comprehensive understanding of patient care, clinical operations, and the importance of compassionate healthcare delivery.
